OH MAN JOHN JANNUZZI!!!! One of my actual oldest friends, he was the FIRST buddy I made on the internet and transferred into an IRL friendship, and though we don’t see each other all that often, when we do, it’s like no time has passed. We’ve been pals for, like, fifteen years or something, and we have a way of bumping into each other on, like, THE MOST consequential days of our lives. John was the last friend I saw before having Ellis in a rush crazy c-section, for example.
So we are old, old, old pals with a lot of work and life overlap, and I’m so into his substack Browser History, and the guy has exquisite and very unique taste, and he’s funny, and has a six week old baby AND a puppy, and we talk about all of it. Also, you don’t want to miss the oil painting he had commissioned of his wife and dog (!!!!!).
Here are some of John’s favorite things, but more than things he’s an incredible writer, has a very singular POV, and is an all around great/fascinating person. READ HIS LETTER!
JANNUZZI’S FAVORITE THINGS
1: "As a kate spade alum and huge admirer of what kate, her husband and team built together, I'm really excited to read this new book from one of her cofounders which charts their journey all the way back to college."We Might Just Make It After All
2: "I buy a pair of these at the beginning of every summer and wear them religiously until they essentially disintegrate. They're not flashy, but they're the ultimate classic." Vans Authentic Sneakers
3: "A few years ago I commissioned this portrait of Alex from Spencer Verney, who is a really talented artist friend of ours. (He also happens to be married to Man Repeller alum and fantastic writer .) He painted this off some photos I shared and although it's like, a little over the top, why wouldn't you commission a portrait of somebody you love?"
4: "These are the jeans — a perfect and near-universally good fit in a timeless Americana kind of faded denim. Perfect.” Alex Mill Painter Pant in Recycled Denim
5: "Nili Lotan recently launched menswear. I've admired their womenswear, which has like a masterful minimalism thing going on and am on the hunt for a new Oxford." Nili Lotan White Oxford Shirt
6: "I talk about this thing all the time, but it's still one of my all-time favorite purchases. You throw your phone on it and it turns your iPhone pics into perfect Polaroid shots." Polaroid Lab Printer
7: "I am fully aware of how ridiculous it is to spend this much on a gold step ladder but I have wanted this for years. For now, I'll use the one we got from Target. But future me will hopefully get this." Hasegawa Step Ladder
8: "Laurel was the first person who put me on to Beata Heuman's work. This salt container, which we use for dog treats, is one of our favorite things in the kitchen." Beata Heuman Monster Pinch
9: "With our new baby...shower time is precious. This stuff has become a part of the ritual and smells so good you almost forget you're on a shower timer." Wonder Valley Shower Kit
10: "I love the giant candle. You won't find a better price for it. Although, tariffs? Either way, it's my favorite." Big Giant Diptyque Candle
11: "Irrationally attracted to this shirt. Could be my whole new personality. Time will tell." Todd Snyder Camp Shirt
