What to Wear Every Day: a T-Shirt and Jeans
This is more of a lesson in proportions and layering than anything.
Recently I got a comment on one of my newsletters requesting a deeper dive into styling a simple tee shirt and jeans. I love this challenge, because for all of my dad-ness I’m actually not really a tee shirt and jeans kind of gal. I have certain deeply-ingrained issues with proportions (some of that here, and here) that prevent me from doing a lot of tees and jeans. It takes a lot of fussing for me to feel right, you know what I mean?
But just because it’s not something I typically go for, doesn’t mean I can have a nice little afternoon playing around in that pond.
The idea behind this isn’t x ways to “Dress Up” your tee and jeans, it’s just slight tweaks or ideas to try to make it feel either more polished or slightly more interesting. Again, these aren’t tricky, or complicated things to do - this is every day dressing, I’m not trying to blow anyone’s world up here, just…. some gentle suggestions to consider. If you just want to shop the post, or want more shopping ideas than are shown here, I’ve housed them here. Some are affiliate links (meaning I get a small commission if you make a purchase) some are not.
THE FITTED (CLASSIC) TEE
This is like, level 1 of tee shirt styling, and while I thought it would be trickiest for me to wrap my head around (because I don’t like things fitted on top and on bottom) the statement tee was actually harder, but I think it’s because I chose the wrong jeans to go with it…. but anyway, we’ll get there in a minute.
