If you’re a relatively new reader you might not know - I have a very fancy mom. A very self-made boss bitch, but fancy mom. She has EXQUISITE taste, especially in things related to the home. She worked her ass off her whole life and now she wants things to be nice, damnit. She’s agreed to be a regular contributor for me because I don’t know anything about that stuff, and I think she’s hoping some of it will rub off on her very disorganized daughter. Here’s her first post for me, about what you need to make a SUPER comfortable bed, and her second one, about what fancy moms really want to receive as a gift (it is a fucking great list).
This week, she texted me with a link to some shoe storage items she recently bought that dramatically increased her shoe space in her (fabulous) closet. And I said - mom, this needs to be a newsletter. And so, all the little things she and you and (theoretically I) can do to make our homes just a little more organized and livable. She loves me, I love you, therefore, she loves you and wants you to be happy and feel fancy too.

I just stayed in an expensive AirBnB that looked great in the photos, but was a disappointment when I actually arrived. It was disappointing, but it made me think about the little things that make a big difference, and how it doesn’t take much effort to transform a space from one that feels chaotic, jumbled and unclean into a space that is nurturing and luxurious. Here are a few things I believe really make a difference….
