Every so often I do one of these - a little updated list of the items that have truly improved the quality of my life. I’m more or less on a shopping freeze, so not a lot of clothes in here.
THESE STUPID GUCCI CLOGS
I caved the other day with my shopping fast, I had some time to kill so I popped into Saks in Beverly Hills and these were right there, and I’ve wanted them for so long, and it’s almost my birthday - so I did it, and I haven’t worn another shoe since I did. They’re so easy to just cram my foot into as I’m bolting out the door, and they look so polished. I also love that they’re not really a thing so they’ll age very well. That all said, they’re expensive, and honestly, these from Birkenstock do a similar thing. Gucci, $730
EARLYBIRD EDIBLES
Leave it to me to go straight in with a THC product, but these have more CBD than THC (only 2 mg) and so they give you a very gentle buzz feeling with a lot of lift. They’re the edible equivalent for me of a generous glass of wine. Best of all, they make me feel more present, less aware of my phone or the future, more in the moment. A great feeling. Earlybird, $60/30
EXPERIMENT BEAUTY BARRIER SUPPORT CONCENTRATE
I got this blue bottle of goo with a bigger press mailer, and normally I’m reluctant to try skin products in such eye-candy packaging (weird bias of mine…) but this one sounded compelling. I’d never tried something specifically for barrier support! It’s meant to be mega hydrating and it is. The product itself is kind of gooey and slimy, but it absorbed/dried quickly and I notice my skin looking brighter, bouncier, and glowier - the peaks and valleys on my forehead less noticeable - since I’ve started using it twice a day. Experiment Beauty, $28
AN EXCELLENT BODY MOISTURIZER
I was also recently gifted this body serum that I had seen all over Instagram, and I love it. I’m terrible at moisturizing my body because I hate having slimy legs in my pants or sheets, but this just feels like it evaporates or gets slurped up by my skin instantly so I never have that feeling of wet skin in clothes. It also smells great - woodsy, not floral or girly. Uni, $43
OK AND HERE ARE SOME THINGS I’M WAITING UNTIL AFTER THE SHOPPING FAST TO BUY
A ROW-ESQUE BAG FOR UNDER $200
What a great bag! Super simple, little flat crossbody in suede with a thin whisp of a strap for $178. It also comes in pebbled leather, but I love the suede. Eileen Fisher, $178
A FULL COTTON POPLIN SKIRT
I’m not much of a skirt gal, but lately I’ve been craving a full, swishy poplin skirt. I like this one because it comes in white, blue, and black, and has a crisp waistband rather than drawstring or elastic, so it feels a bit more finished. I’d wear it with a big oversized white button down and the fisherman sandals I’m about to show you, or with a blazer worn as a shirt (buttoned with nothing underneath) and heels at night. Banana Republic, $130
A VERY SIMPLE FISHERMAN SANDAL
I know fisherman sandals hit fever pitch for popularity a few summers ago, but right now they’re really hitting for me. I like these because they look so simple and classic, and like they’d get much better with age. I’d wear them super worn-in with super worn-in khaki pants and a tee shirt (and brown belt), or with that big poplin skirt. Hereu, $383
LL BEAN “COASTAL LANDSCAPE” SHEETS
I didn’t know LL Bean made sheets (maybe I did, but if I did I forgot) but I cannot get over these. They are SO NUTTY and so cool, and while I do not like the way they’re styled in the e-com shot, they could look so amazing in the right setting. It’s like Maine Delft, and I just love it so much. LL Bean, $139
That’s it!
Your friend,
Laurel
Loved everything in this one! Would you mind posting the link to the banana republic skirt! Have been looking for a white skirt for spring
Okay these sheets are kooky and I love them and I think I will get them
