Saturday Snack: The best denim skirt, a violet sweater, a Raf for Jil-esque thing from H&M, a great face wash, etc etc
Little tidbits from around the internet.
Before we get into it, this weekend (through Sunday) I’m donating proceeds from The Earl Shop to Doctors Without Borders. So if you wanted an Earl Dad hat…now’s a good time.
And here we go -
A GORGEOUS NEON PURPLE KNIT
Gorgeous, neon, and purple are three words I never thought I’d string together under any circumstance, but here we are. This color is luscious, it’s so vivid, it looks luminous, almost, and it’s from Lisa Yang, one of my favorite knitwear brands. The quality is unbelievable, and this is such a nice antidote to the beigedom of the last few years of winterwear. Lisa Yang, $725 (sizes US XS - L)
A GENTLE BUT THOROUGH FACE CLEANSER
I recently started a tretinoin and hydroquinone regimen (tretinoin is rx only to prevent premature aging and fine lines, and hydroquinone works wonders against dark spots and melasma), and man, it seems to be working. The recs came from Michelle Lee’s excellent beauty substack, but the products, from Musely, make you mega sensitive to the sun. Thus, I’ve been applying thick, intense SPF many, many times every day. Which I don’t mind, except it’s impossible to remove - which led me to this. I wanted a gentle oil cleanser (I remembered oil cleansers as being especially great at breaking down makeup and other topical beauty products), and that is exactly what I got with this. One round of it gets off most of the sunscreen layers - two rounds and my skin is glowing, totally bright sparkling clean, but also mega soft. I highly recommend this if you use a shitload of SPF (which you should). Sulwhasoo, $40
A SATIN SKIRT THAT REMINDS ME OF RAF SIMONS FOR JIL SANDER
Remember the Raf for Jil years? Man, those were good. A mom friend of mine was wearing this skirt out the other night to drinks, and I was breathless over it - is it The Row? I whispered, caressing the satin. H&M! she whispered back. H&M?! It feels amazing - the satin is thick and substantial, and the cut is gorgeous, very straight and precise. This is a real winner. I liked hers in white, but I like the petal pink a lot too - I think mainly for the Jil vibes. H&M, $46 (sizes US XS - XL)
SOMETHING FROM THE KHAITE X BONPOINT COLLAB
Listen. I think the Khaite x Bonpoint collab is cute and everything, but also…why. Whose kid would honestly wear a double breasted blazer? Mine are so filthy and sticky…I could never. However, I love this very sweet little tote bag. I think it’s kid sized, which makes me love it that much more for me. The print is so cute, but the overlaid Bonpoint & Khaite logos are what I really love. The whole thing is just great. Bonpoint x Khaite, $150
AND NOW HERE’S A BAG I *REALLY* LOVE…
…but just can’t pull the trigger on. I’ve held it and it’s so wonderful, so chic, so soft, and I’d take it everywhere. I should just get it, probably. Right? Right????? The Row, $1,910
A ROCK-SOLID EYEBROW GEL
What else do I need to say! I tried this recently and man, my eyebrows were stuck. In a good way. They felt pleasantly crispy, like - no fucking way is a single hair getting out of place - and it lasted all day (except I was so intrigued by how well it worked I couldn’t resist petting my brows, which definitely softened them back up prematurely) and is clear, so really great for not looking like you’re wearing makeup. Ilia, $24
THE THING I WANT THE MOST
This silly as hell Tory Burch denim skirt. I love how it’s constructed (or de-constructed) and how interesting it is - but still looks like it doesn’t sacrifice wearability for interest. This is a very good investment in terms of things that will dramatically boost your wardrobe and make everything else look cooler. I gotta have it. Tory Burch, $368 (sizes US 00- 14)
That’s it!

Laurel
I got the smoothest, glassiest, spot-free skin of my life from a tret/hydroquinone regimen. Literally anything else is a complete waste of time and money. BUT (there’s always a but, right?!), proceed with caution and don’t get greedy - too much of a good thing in this case can result in rebound hyperpigmentation. Check it out. X
Just a quick note that Lisa Yang sizing is on the petite side! I ordered a bunch and the sweaters are GORGEOUS, but as US 10/12 taller than 5’6” they sadly looked very fitted.
