Saturday Snack: Summer Sneakers, Skirts That Are Shorts, The Tibi Sale, My Curly-Hair Go-To's Baby-Sized, Being Influenced By A Celebrity....etc.
Little tidbits from around the internet.
Hi friends! Here we are, at the end of a busy week. My kids were home sick for most of it, and I was traveling Monday & Tues, so it was a weird week, but a good one. I’m having a lot of fun! If you came out on Thursday night to my Madewell party - THANK YOU!!! I love you! I had a blast - I just honestly truly love doing stuff like that and hosting things and helping people shop and doing little one on one styling moments. What a dream and a joy and a gift - I really am just endlessly grateful.
The star of the night (aside from a beautiful little golden weenie dog named Butters) was this pair of jeans. The gals couldn’t get enough! Everyone looked so cute in them, they’re very, very flattering and the kind of thing that looks cool without looking like there’s any effort involved. I felt so happy!
Ok, so aside from that, here’s what else was going on this week:
On Tuesday, my Fancy Mom blessed us with this recipe - one that my husband teasingly calls “fish in a bag” except…it kind of is a fish in a bag. It’s delicious, you should make it.
On Weds, I wrote this little ode to my mom friends and to friends in general. How they’re the thing keeping me young and energized feeling, and how the rush I get from being with them reminds me of my party-dog youth.
Then, Thursday was all about YELLOW! it is the color of the season, but should you buy something yellow? Let’s explore.
And now, on to the main event! Saturday Snack!
THESE SNEAKERS
I think these might become my entire summer vibe. I love these because the more worn-in the get, the better they look. How good would they be with, like, a hole in the canvas? And tan legs? Polo, $98
TIBI SALE

The Tibi sale is verrrrry good. Great skirts, interesting shirts, cool fabrications and colors - if you haven’t watched my conversation with Tibi creative director Amy Smilovic, please go do that, she’s amazing. I’m highlighting a few of my favorites, but there are honestly too many to list.
SKIRTS THAT ARE SHORTS

Ok, I might have written about this last weekend, but to me, this is such a THING it’s worth bringing up again and again. If you a) hate wearing shorts and b) hate getting dressed in the summer - this one’s for you. A full midi skirt that keeps your legs cool like shorts, but has the structure and style of the more serious fall clothes you probably prefer. Not everyone has to go all boho and flimsy in the summer - there is an alternative!
INFLUENCED BY KYLIE JENNER AND NO IT’S NOT ABOUT HER BOOBS OMG
However, I was intrigued by her recent boob job reveal (here’s my boob job story, lol) - she looks good, I must say, and I fucking love her and Timothée Chalamet together. I never really ever talk about celebrity style here except as it relates to Lauren Hutton, but the photos of her courtside in her gold and diamond Cartier Panthere watch….did something to me. I mentioned last weekend that I’m in a watch hole (I will almost certainly not buy one, but I love to look on this app) and I’m just captivated by the idea of the small, gold Panthere - I don’t want the diamond version. I think my best friend Emily also has this watch, so of course I want it even more. Here’s one at resale I love.
A SILLY BAG
There’s something about summer that makes me want a silly new bag. I love this one from Gucci because the shape is very practical and useful and it’s also vintage looking, and speaks volumes, but doesn’t feel too IT or serious. You know? It’s a bit silly, without being goofy. Gucci, $1,950
AN ACTUALLY GOOD TRAVEL BEAUTY KIT
This little kit has all the hair things I need for a trip - AND! A cute little mint green carry bag. I love the leave-in and the mousse for my curls (here’s my little curly hair tutorial). Crown Affair Travel Bundle, $98
THE LONG ISLAND COMPROMISE
HOLY SHIT THIS BOOK!!! It is so good, so funny, SO GOOD I can’t stop thinking about and talking about it, I wish it was three times longer than it is - it is a delight.
A SKIN OIL FOR AFTER YOU SHAVE YOUR LEGS
There are few things that feel better in the world than this oil on freshly shaven legs. Oh boy. It’s moisturizing, but also makes your legs look kind of shiny and slu*ty, and I love it so much. It should also keep your leg skin from going too crepey if you use it regularly. I’ve been using their body serum regularly for a year or so, and it has definitely helped keep my skin from getting crinkly. Uni body oil, $48
EARRINGS MY DAUGHTER WILL WANT TO STEAL
They’re on sale, and I love them. Simone Rocha, $297 (was $425)
THE TOP TO WEAR WITH ALL OF YOUR SKIRTS THAT ARE SHORTS
A cotton knit tank. Easy to wear with a bra, but also good without, it has perfect proportions to go with a high-waist full skirt, and I love the contrast of this chunky knit with the softer, smooth skirt. Me+Em, $165
And there we are!
Love, your friend,
Laurel
I loved Long Island compromise SO MUCH so now I need all your book recs!!
Thank you for the Uni oil shoutout! She’s been flying off the shelves 🧡
