Before anything, I want to put this here - this week, for Your Mom I wrote about my feelings around the election. I think I said basically everything I have to say. I’m terrified. And I won’t quote myself exactly here, but two things - I know there’s a lot to disagree with Kamala on, and I realize her presidency isn’t an ideal outcome for a lot of progressives - I totally get it. But the alternative is so much worse, and so much more is at stake.
The second thing, I know I probably have a lot of people who either support Trump in my readership, or people who have decided to not vote in election because they don’t really like either candidate. I respect your right to make your own choice, but also urge you to consider what the next fifty years or so of the Supreme Court will look like it Trump wins. What kinds of freedoms our kids might not have that we had, what will happen to the planet, how many more women will be denied health care, and what other rights women, trans people, and LGBTQ people might have taken away. You don’t have to love her to want to protect the environment or hopefully take some steps towards keeping guns out of schools. There’s no perfect candidate, but I do think there’s only one option in this election.
Please, please vote with future generations in mind.
