Saturday Snack: My Favorite Sandals, A Perfect Miniskirt, 90s Inspired Pieces On Sale, And The One Bag I Want This Season
Little morsels from around the internet.
Hi guys. I’m almost done with the second month of my shopping fast, and weirdly, the longer I go without impulse buying, the less I feel the urge. There are few things that truly tempt me these days, but let me start with the one thing that is really calling to me.
MIU MIU ARCADIE BAG
This bag is so silly, I don’t know how practical it is, or what it is about it that I can’t resist, but I want it. It feels new and familiar at the same time, and I imagine I’d wear it everywhere. It’s not as serious as the other it bags right now, but is equally as polished and interesting. Miu Miu, $3,150
MY ALL-TIME FAVORITE SANDALS
You may have noticed that it’s starting to get dark later….and like me, have started thinking about spring - my spring shopping budget goes first to sandals. I have so many pairs of minimalist flat sandals, but these from Emme Parsons are the ones that converted me from more is more to as paired-back as possible. They truly go with everything, look interesting but not flashy, and are mega comfortable. I actually wore a pair of these to a few black-tie events - they’re that versatile. Emme Parsons, $450
A DREAM OF A MINISKIRT
I LOVE Cos. LOVE. And I loooove this miniskirt - it’s super full, with irregular pleats to give it extra shape and a raw edge waistband, and it unbelievably chic with a black blazer, slouchy grey cashmere sweater, or a black tank top and those Emme Parsons sandals. Cos, $135
AND TO GO WITH IT - A SEXY RED CARDIGAN
With tonal buttons!!! J.Crew, $118
SHARP OUTERWEAR ON SALE
While it’s getting warmer in California, I know the rest of the country is still locked in winter. This is, however, a perfect time to buy a new coat. With spring merchandise coming in, most of the stores have gone on markdown, and included in that are some really stellar coats. I love these two from Theory. Left, $358 ; Right, $477
A VERY GOOD DENIM JACKET
I’m a little fussy about denim jackets. I don’t like them too shrunken, or too oversized, I don’t like stretch or distressing, and no branding or embellishments. It’s easy for me to say, I own a perfect vintage Wrangler one, but this one from Gap comes pretty close. I like to wear mine most often as a shirt on its own, and you can definitely do that with this one. It’s kind of nondescript and boring - which is why I love it. Gap, $55
THIS PREPPY LITTLE SWEATER
I have one and it’s so nice. It’s cotton, and has the springiest, bounciest feel. It’s warm but not hot, and preppy but not too. I had to actively tell myself to hit pause on wearing it so I didn’t overdo it. Kule, $298
90’S-ISH THINGS ON SALE FROM TORY BURCH
I always cruise the Tory Burch sale - a lot of the weirder items end up there, and it’s such a goldmine. There are a few excellent things on site right now, but these are the ones I’m most drawn to. On the left, it’s kind of hard to tell, but this is a very sculpted tunic/vest that closes with hook and eye closures. I saw someone wearing it during fashion week and it’s so chic and beautiful. In the middle, the top pair is just a great classic black pump that’s not too high - and on the bottom, a very pretty sculptural heel. Can’t go wrong there! Finally, on the left, this dream of a leather jacket. It is so tidy and sharp, I love that it’s not a moto jacket, or a bomber, or a blazer, but kind of a prissy little thing - I’ve coveted it for almost a year. It is so gorgeous. Tunic, $749 ; Pumps, $189 ; Heeled Sandals, $289 ; Leather Jacket, $1,499
That’s it for this week! Have fun today!
Your friend,
Laurel
The bag is cute. It would practical if it had a detachable strap. Also, maybe keep contents light.
I’ve been staring at the Emme Parsons Susan sandals for over a month now, and I think you just convinced me to buy them. I’m in between sizes—I wear an 8 in most shoes, but a 39 in Birks. Would you recommend sizing up or down?
