A few things I saw and liked this week!
STIRRUP LEGGINGS
Yes, you read that right. I’m feeling stirrup leggings. It’s rare that I’m tempted by something so trendy, but here we are. I love them with little ballet flats and an oversized sweater, OR with a big BIG oversized button down and blazer. Norba, $155
DID SOMEONE SAY BIG OVERSIZED SHIRT?
How about this one from Jil Sander at 70% off? It’s nice and structured with a tuxedo placket - and look at that interesting hem in the front! This is a SHIRRRRRRT. I love the color, too. Jil Sander, $324
AND NOW SOME BLACK FLIP FLOPS
Speaking of trendy, everyone from Chanel to Phoebe Philo to The Row is doing black, simple flip flops right now, and as much as I feel like a sucker, I’m desperate for the pair from Chanel. HOWEVER! These are more realistic. Wear them with cropped, flared trousers and that big ass Jil Sander shirt and a blazer. Old Navy, $3(!)
VERY GREAT DEODORANT
Not sexy, but I had one of these sent to me by the brand, and I love it so much. Initially I was like, ok great, deodorant is deodorant….but this is better. It feels good, doesn’t have a major smell on its own, dries quickly and looks nicer than most on my bathroom counter. Necessaire, $18
TWO GREAT THINGS FROM EVERLANE
During my routine browsing, I found these two gems on the same site: the sweater is (my favorite) COTTON KNIT! It’s a great boxy shape, and comes in some fantastic colors, like this cobalt and a parrot greet. AND, I have this skirt in Black. It’s called the dream skirt, and honestly, it is my dream skirt for a 90s look. Super straight, super stretchy, but still structured - it now comes in this excellent sage green. Sweater, $98 ; Skirt, $78
SWEET LITTLE VELVET SLIPPERS
Now that spring is sproinging, I’m looking at sandals, sporty shorts, aaaaand these prissy little slippers. I love this leafy green color, especially the idea of them with some men’s khakis and a brown belt and a white tank top. They also come in a very very pretty bright red if you’re looking for something to replace your red socks. Mar Soreli, $145
AND THERE WE ARE!
Your friend,
Laurel
I am so on board with your stirrup legging pick! I’ll be postpartum (for the third time) in another week or so and I am hyper fixated on finding comfy garments that still feel like I’ve dressed for the day. My stumbling block has been the length for them. I’m only 5’1” and have looked high and low for a shorter inseam/petite variation.
I love all of these suggestions -thanks!
