I honestly am, I never thought I’d say that, but I’m kind of sick of shopping. Next week I’m going to do an AMA and something else if I feel up for it, but I’m going to try and just chilllllll. Unfortunately for my family, me chilling looks like me on my computer, so you will probably hear something from me. We’ll see. If not, Happy Holidays, and I’ll for sure have a Saturday Snack next weekend.
But here we are, TODAY! And I have a few cozy, comfortable things, plus the books and stuff like that I’m hoping to zone out to.
NEW COS COATS & THINGS
As much as this looks sponsored, it is, in fact, not. I just am very enthusiastic about Cos and their hew fall/party collection.
The thing I really love about Cos, is that while it is high street, I wouldn’t call it fast fashion - it’s so timeless and easy to wear, and none of it will ever feel dated, so you can wear it forever. The quality is great, especially when you consider the price, and if you take good care of it it will last forever. Cos, call me.
So the coats, on the left - a super classic and beautiful double-faced wool wrap coat. It also comes in black and is $350. In the middle, I love this work-wear inspired jacket, and that it has a slight sheen. It’s made in “recycled wool” which is yarn made from “yarn-spinning waste, yarn overstock, production-cutting waste and post-consumer garments.” It’s $390. And finally, on the right….. my favorite advanced-wardrobe buy! A dressy coat! I really hate having a gorgeous outfit for a night out, then having to put my regular day coat on top of it. This is a thing nobody needs but it makes your wardrobe so much better. This is a single-breasted wool-satin coat (dream!) and looks fancy and crisp and lovely and just a little bit shiny. It’s $350.
On the left, I’ve heard great things about Cos’ cashmere sweaters, and I love the shape and color of this one. It also comes in navy, black, etc, but this green is so pretty. It’s $375. In the middle, basically the perfect minimal cropped coat. I have one like this (which was the best thing I’ve ever found on The RealReal, it’s Jil Sander and I will never ever part with it) and I wear it constantly. It’s perfect for in-between weather and goes with everything. It’s $190. And finally, a very close (and insanely chic and fancy) friend was wearing this vest the other day - it’s double-faced wool, but feels like cashmere - it is SO great as a shirt, it looks super duper expensive, and yet is only $170.
RAINBOW GLASSWARE
I aspire to be the kind of person who uses glassware like this, not a mismatched hodgepodge of kid-friendly tumblers. These make me feel both cozy and sunny. La Double J, $570/4
THESE TWO PAIRS OF CHANEL SHOES
I saw my friend Beverly in these Chanel flats, and now I want these Chanel flats. They’re just SO CUTE and so beautiful. I’m excited about the new Blazy Chanel, but I also like this Chanel, and I’d wear these until they were super duper worn-in and relaxed looking. Sounds chic.
I also am going bananas for the slingbacks with little micro-crystals in the classic quilting pattern. In this minty green!!! The dreeeeeeeeeeeam!!!! Chanel Boutiques
NEW TANK TOPS
I infrequently wear bras, so I do wear these little tank tops daily instead. I’d love to get myself a new set of my favorites - here they are.
On the left, this one from AYR is great. It’s not too tight or too thick, but it does hold its shape after many washes. It’s thick enough that you can’t really tell I’m not wearing a bra, but it can also absolutely be worn with one. It’s $68. In the middle, is one from Negative, which is so thin and so soft. It offers zero support, but it’s a great layering piece under a button down or a thick sweater. I also sleep in mine - it’s insanely soft and comfortable. It comes in a ton of colors, and is $75. And finally, on the right, a super classic tank from Almina Concept. I love the straps on this one, it has a nice heft, and keeps you snugly inside - it’s perfectly form fitting, and also looks great on its own. This one is $58.
SOME MORE SHOES
While I have an extensive shoe collection, I’ve worn the same pair of New Balance sneakers as my do everything pair for the last…...four years. I love them, but they’re tired. I need a new pair that I can just kind of plop my foot into and run out the door - something not too trendy, not too casual, not too dressy, and mainly comfortable - but also not boring.
Ok, while waiting to board a flight recently, I saw a work acquaintance wearing a pair of motorcycle boots. This isn’t something that I’d typically consider for myself, but they looked really cool with her kind of more polished skirt, and then I started imagining them with cropped wide-leg khakis and things like that, and I got excited. I love this pair, which are currently on markdown. Now the sneakers, I’ve wanted a pair of these Dries sneakers for a while, and I actually just ordered these, so we’ll see how they do, but I love the vintage shape with the snake print. Very cool. Then, these Bally boots have been on my radar for a long time. The tie aspect makes it harder to shove my foot in and go, but I could probably be convinced to get a pair I have to tie everyday if they look this good.
THE BIG ASS ROW TOTE THAT REMINDS ME OF THE THING YOU USE TO CARRY WOOD
When this bag first came out I really didn’t get it - it’s too long! It doesn’t make sense! But the more I stared at it, over months and months, the more I fell in love with it. It reminds me of the kind of bag a chic lumberjack would use to carry chopped wood back to her house. Of course, by the time I came around and understood it, it seemed to be sold out everywhere. Now’s my chance. The Row, $1,690
A FEW MORE BEAUTY PRODUCTS
Last week I did a post on my favorite beauty products for December, but I wanted to add a few more. This lip gloss/balm from Refy is….heaven. I have it in Fawn, which is a light, super sheer brown, but I also love the clear. It has a metal applicator, which feels very nice against chapped lips, and the formula isn’t sticky, and does feel moisturizing. But it’s also a gloss so my lips look….glossy. Then, there’s this bronzer stick - I’m a big fan of non-sparkly bronzers, and this one is very creamy and blendable, and looks super natural - and not glittery! Then the last thing, I have Perioral Dermatitis (boooo) and I’m beginning to get a flare up. This time I got a tip to use Azelaic Acid on it, and it does seem to be helping. I just bought a random one, but I did a little digging and this one from Paula’s Choice seems to be the best, so I just got it too. Let’s see.
THAT’S IT!
Happy Holidays from me, I love you, and I’m so grateful for you.
Your friend,
Laurel
Laurel, I always read, you to the end because of,your sign off “Your, friend, Laurel”. It gives me a lift every time.
PS I am sober 4,886 days! Another reason I love you. Kindred spirits
Cos is brilliant and very well made but they only use a pop of colour every season. I’d love if they used more colours. Otherwise we are walking around like a very depressed French woman in a 70’s French moody film( which some days we would like to!) Happy Christmas to everyone!!
