Saturday Snack: a True Crime Podcast, a Fantastic Skirt and THE PANTS!, a Fun Eyeliner, a Great Book, etc. etc.
Little tidbits from around the internet.
THIS FUN EYELINER
The other day I got algorithm’d into watching a video of Billie Eilish getting ready to perform and boy did it hit the right gal at the right time. It majorly sold me on EYELINER. Not the way she wears it with a cat eye, but just a tiny bit on the inner lash line - she is so beautiful, but that little detail is just….very compelling. So Billie uses eyeliner, therefore I buy eyeliner. I bought this one from MAC because I read it stays put and goes on easily so I don’t have to grind it into my eyeballs. I love it in dark grey (less harsh than black) and brown (ditto). MAC Eyeliner, $25
WHAT A SKIRT
The color, the volume, the swingyness, everything about it I just totally love. I’d love to be wearing this right now with a navy cashmere sweater and electric blue button down. Cos, $135
WAIT BUT ALSO THESE FROM COS HOLY SHIT
The other day I linked out to these because I thought they were the same pants I was wearing in an earlier photo - but I wanted to be sure (and I also wanted a backup pair) so I ordered them, and they’re not the same, but I’ll be damned if they’re not some of the best pants I’ve ever bought. The fit is divine, they’re a heavy cotton twill with a tiny tiny bit of stretch, they’re super straight, super structured but still comfortable, they are just PERFECT. PERFECT!!!!!!!!!!!!!! I know people are going to ask - I bought them in a 2, but as always, I advise comparing your measurements to their sizing chart. Cos, $135
THIS FUCKED UP PODCAST
I look forward to Sunday just as much for White Lotus (I’m not obsessed this season, but I am enjoying) as I do for new episodes of this totally bonkers podcast. I won’t begin to try to summarize the story, you just have to listen if you like this kind of thing.
THIS TOILET PAPER HOLDER
I love it so much. James Shaw, $170
A FANCY SKIN CLEANSER
I got this as part of a mailer, and it has been such a pleasure to use. I love face washes - I love to wash my face. This one was intriguing because I remembered using those self-warming Biore pods when I was an adolescent and I thought this would be the same - that it would warm on my face. And it does, a little - it’s subtle, but mostly it just melts into my skin - my face feels so clean after, so soft, and just like smooth and even and terrific. It smells just like honey, and it really such a delightful product to use. IS Clinical Warming Honey Cleanser, $49
A BOOK I LOVED
Ok, so I’m not like hardcore into fantasy, but I loved…LOVED!!!! like really, seriously lived and breathed and read them twice the books in the Magicians series. Fucking loved. If you liked Harry Potter, you’ll like these - anyway, the author wrote a new book last year about Camelot and the knights and it’s not as m’lord m’lady as it sounds, it is un-put-downable. I looked forward to getting in bed all day so I could read and snuggle, and when it ended I was genuinely very sad. Lev Grossman The Bright Sword, $35
A DRESS TO PUT ON OUT OF THE SHOWER
All I ever want is a giant tent-like dress to put on without a bra when I’m fresh out of the shower - and this is it. It’s crisp and beautiful, but also just the thin for hanging around the house all clean and cosy with your boobs out. Rue Sophie, $228
A GORGEOUS TOMATO RED SANDAL
Just the thing to really tantalize you for warmer weather. These with clear polish on your toenails and that kelly green circle skirt….chef’s kiss… Emme Parsons, $498
OK! That’s it!
I love you! Your friend,
Laurel
