A SEQUINED BOMBER
I loooove the shape, I love the tonal sequins, I love everything about this. It would be soooo good with a blue striped button down under it. Jacques Wei, $860
THIS CRAZY THING I’M OBSESSED WITH FROM KALLMEYER
This week’s newsletter (which is one of my favorites ever) involved a lot of tying things around my waist, wearing a literal tie, knotting and draping and shopping at a fabrics store. I’m really stuck on this thing of tying on layers, I like the strings and knots and layers of mess. Meanwhile, this thing from Kallmeyer - what even is it! - I have to have it. I love it so much - it’s like a crochet overskirt layer with ties. Honestly, the whole new collection is so good and so beautiful - I am such a fan. I also am really into this skirt though - it has the pleats and the strings and everything all kind of in one. Kallmeyer wrap skirt, $585
MY MORNING SKIN ROUTINE
I mentioned this a while ago, but I’ve really pared back my skincare thing, and honestly, it seems to be working. My pores look smaller, my skin feels soft and not itchy, and it looks relatively bright and even. My morning routine is especially satisfying:
Step 1: Wash with this - super gentle, but effective cleanser.
Step 2: A squirt of this - I think this is responsible for making my pores look smaller. It’s also supposed to help tighten skin over time.
Step 3: SPF - here are three I like: this one is nice and super light and blends in instantly and doesn’t look chalky or thick or too shiny. Here’s another very light option - I leave this one in my car for on the go, one-handed application. This is one of my all time favorites - just enough coverage and formulated with Vitamin C to help erase and prevent dark spots.
THE NEW HOUSE I’M DREAMING OF
I’m kind of burying the lede here, but we’re in the process of moving, and I’ve moved past the phase of what the fuck…. to OMG YAY! I’m dreaming and feeling very nesty, and imagining how cute I can make my kids rooms.
This tulip lamp is one of the cutest things I’ve ever seen - I think I actually put it in a newsletter last spring - and I would honestly really like it for my own room as my own reading light, but I think it belongs in my daughter’s room. She and my son have recently started loving looking at books at night in bed, so they both want reading lights. I am obsessed with this. West Elm floor lamp, $329
Ok, then, my son needs a new bed. I like all the very cute fantasy bunk beds and little castle beds and things, but then realistically - I want something that looks very nice and neutral and not too childish so that he doesn’t decide he needs something more grown up in two years. I love the color of this, and how classic and minimal the design is. It’s super beautiful and elegant, but also won’t look out of place with all of his dinosaur posters. West Elm bed, $600
Finally, again, I want these daisy sheets for myself, honestly, but I think they’re probably best for my daughter. I LOVE the tiny daisies, and in the blue background they’re feminine but not so so pink princess girly. They’re super soft, but also durable, and made in a Fair Trade Certified facility. West Elm twin sheets, $69
SPEAKING OF DREAMING
How about this vintage Murano chandelier!!!!!!!!!! I’d like this for my room. Vintage Chandelier, $1,900
THE!!!! SHOE
Well, THEEEEE shoe(s) - two shoes I’m obsessed with in a way I haven’t been in a long time. First, these boots from Khaite, which I have, and haven’t taken off since I got them. They’re truly perfect, they do so much for every outfit, AND! They’re comfortable. Ok, then, these little pumps from Loro Piana, which I don’t have, but man, I love these. They’re a gorgeous evolution from the Rebecca flat, and they’re so simple and sexy….but not sexy. I love them.
ANOTHER GREAT PAIR OF UNDERWEAR
I feel like I’m becoming a real connoisseur of comfortable underwear, and I have another brand to add to the rotation - these from LDMA. They’re not granny, but they’re not strictly for show. They’re second skin, so SO comfortable, and they don’t ride up your cheeks. A dream. I also love this v-neck bralette.
A FEW TOTALLY PERFECT SWEATERS
It has been raining and chilly and snuggly in LA, and I’m finding myself dreeeeaming of sweaters.
On the left, a super beautiful wool/cashmere blend black polo - great to wear with a layered turtleneck underneath. This is the kind of thing I’ve always wanted to borrow from my dad or my husband, but then they’re always too TOO oversized or not the right drape - this is the right fit and the right drape. Jardin Des Orangers, $313
In the middle, I have this navy cashmere sweater from Lisa Yang, and it is, honestly, the holy grail navy sweater. I love how the knit collar is a little wider than normal, it’s plush and soft and spongy, and it’s the most perfect navy. I don’t buy a ton of sweaters, but this was my sweater for this winter, and now I totally baby it so that I’ll have it forever. I have it in size 0. Lisa Yang, $590
So then all the way on the right is one from Vince. It’s double layered, so the polo layer pokes out of the V-Neck layer, and then the sleeves look double layered too. It’s an instant perfect top - it would be great with a pointelle white tee underneath. Vince, $490
THAT’S ALL!
Your friend, forever,
Laurel
