Ok! Here we are again, with a few more specific requests. I might do another of these but honestly I think I’m going to be testing negative in the next day or to and thus will not spend literally 16 hours a day on my computer doing nothing but window shopping online, so, who knows.
But it’s fun! I like having a hunt! Especially for things I don’t usually hunt for, like neon turtlenecks or trench coats.
Here again, are my ultra-specific edits for a handful of items that y’all dm’d me about. ILY.
A dining table.
Oooooooo what a sweetie table! I love the legs, I love that it’s a hexagon, I love that it’s vintage. I love that it’s red.
2. HAY, $995
I guess with furniture I do like a twist… especially dining tables. My husband and I are also on the hunt for one ourselves, and this was the one I chose. No pointy corners for Phoebe to run eyeball-first into, fun colors, sweet, sweet, sweet all around. We needed one faster than this would have arrived so we didn’t get this (we got a placeholder, so still on the hunt!), but I still love it.
I love this color blue, especially in such a classic shape. I am definitely not a modern farmhouse gal. Now I really want this one.
This is kind of modern farmhouse! But it’s nice and crisp and clean, and maybe if you have this then you can get some really cute silly chairs.
5. CB2, $1,899
Very 80s Miami high rise condo! I love it! The glass on top is also smoked, so….chic.
A classic trench coat.
1. Uniqlo, $99
A short option! I always think of trenches as being kind of mid-length, but a short one is very very cute - no? This also comes in navy, and has a water-repellant finish.
Here’s another thing I will say though about trenches - there are SO MANY good vintage/pre-owned ones here and here and here. This is a good category to buy vintage!
2. J.Crew, $348
Pure classic, but also functional. This one is water-repellant and comes with a detachable hood. Bonus - it’s machine washable!
3. COS, $350
Ok, not to be worn in wet weather, but the shape and slouch of this one is *chef’s kiss*. Also an incredible price for double-faced wool. This one will be nice and warm, and looks so so cool.
4. AYR, $695
This is the one I’d likely go with. I like the length (just below the knee), the width of the sleeves & cuffs, and that it’s made from recycled cotton twill in a factory that runs almost entirely solar energy.
5. Nomia, $795
I love Nomia, and love this two-tone trench especially. This is the kind of twist I get into - it’s tonal, not overly novel, not fussy, and doesn’t make the item harder to wear, rather, more interesting.
And then! The luxury! This is a wool, cashmere blend, and as with everything she does, Maria has made this as sustainably and responsibly as possible. This is the coat you wear forever, then your children fight over.
Fun tissue turtleneck.
1. Cos, $35
I’m blaming/crediting this request to The Row’s fall collection, where many of the looks were styled with contrasting turtlenecks underneath. Wear one with a thicker neutral sweater over it, or a button down, or whatever it is you’re into. I love this one from Cos because it’s thin thin thin, but also merino, so warm, warm, warm, and it comes in a billion colors. The baby pink one would also be very sweet under a chunky navy crewneck sweater. It’s a low risk/high reward was to look a little extra stylish.
Ditto this one from Tory Burch. It’s seamless, and is tissue weight in a nylon/spandex, so won’t be too hot, and adds zero bulk.
Oooooo, so, not a pop color, but this one is gorgeous. I’d wear it with a blue button down and wide, pleated, khaki trousers (which I bet you’re getting sick of seeing me write, but honestly! They go with everything!).
And finally! The OG, The Row green turtleneck. Also at ByGeorge ;)
Call, call, call - she’s not online!
Mary Janes baby!
Ooooooo There’s nothing I love as much as a Mary Jane! My favorite shoe! So here are a lot of options! Ok!
I have a pair of Vibi Venezia’s and they are terrific. Very soft and unstructured, if you’re going for like, oooooo I’m braless in France with a pointelle tank, then this is where you want to go.
2. Doen, $248
I love the velvet, I love the square toe, I love the price, I love everything. Don’t sleep on Doen’s shoes!
When I was at InStyle we did a collaboration with Zou Xou, and the shoes are INSANELY high quality, are handmade, and are largely made to order - so they’re sustainable. At this price, that is a miracle. They also come in a zillion colors and are comfortable! So there!
Ok more of a ballet shoe than straight up Mary Jane, STILL! Does the thing. I love these, there’s like sporty Mary Janes.
Awwww cutie pie little sparkle buckle!
And not to be all The Row! The Row! But. The Row. These are my all time favorites. An investment, for sure, but cost/wear on these will be like 25 cents. I love that they don’t have a heel, and I love love love the shape of the toe box.
Rug for kid’s room.
1. Oyoy, $135
Ooooooooooooo I got this for the hallway that leads to my kids rooms. SO CUTE.
Also very sweet! I always try and buy things for my kids’ rooms that are like so childish or so literal the thing they love, but hey, they don’t need dinosaur and horse rugs. Chill, mom. This is sweet and says something but isn’t too juvenile? I guess?
Ok, here’s the cheesy mom in me coming out again LEMONS! Eeeee!
This is what I’m getting for Ellis’ room. Easy to clean, neutral but interesting, and doesn’t have dinos on it.
Is this a lot to spend on a child’s rug? Yes. Is it gorgeous? Yes. Does it scream kid’s room? No. I love it.
The perfect loafer.
The most essential - the most classic - the Platonic ideal is the Weejun. It comes in a million colors and finishes, but I think this shiny black is pure heaven.
I love these by Jamie Haller for a soft, unstructured loafer. I own a pair and they are SO comfortable. The leather quality is unbelievably beautiful, and they age very well.
We carry these at ByGeorge, but not currently online, so the link above will take you to our main contact line if you’d like to order a pair :)
Back when I was an editor, our I called in a pair of suede Manolo loafers for a shot I was styling, and it was very hard to send them back. The shape! The suede! Gorgeous.
My own favorite pair of loafers are by Gravati - I get a lot of questions about them. I got them at Bergdorf Goodman a few years ago, but I can’t seem to find them online anywhere :(
THAT’S A LOT OF STUFF!
I love you, thank you for playing with me.
