I’ll use almost anything as an excuse to look at jewelry - I love to browse, I love doing research, I love collecting ideas, following gem dealers on Instagram, I just really love jewelry. I love looking more than I love buying for obvious reasons (ahem…$$$) but when I do invest in something - like, really invest - it needs to be something I can see myself wearing every day. I like the fancy stuff, but I like to wear the fancy stuff casually - I like a very formal pendant worn on a length of cotton clothesline. I like my jewelry to have personality, but I don’t like it to be overly tongue-in-cheek or silly. I like big girl jewelry.
My jewelry collection really took off when I had kids. I kicked it off in a sincere way with my “push present” (a term I despise…) for my first kid. After that, I started thinking about jewelry differently, as something to invest in and put real thought into.
