Crowdsourced Shopping: Fun Heels, Pleat-Front Trousers, Easy Dresses, and Denim Skirts
Right this way!
Here we go…
Colorful Pump
What a fun thing! Neutral neutral blah blah blah, let’s get a silly pump back in the mix.
1. I love this kind of hideous color. I wouldn’t wear this with something printed, or something else bright, but with a pair of navy kick flare pants and navy knit? Cute! Or a big white sweater and little mini skirt? Cute! Franco Sarto, $91
2. A very classic shape, in a very saturated green suede! These remind me so much of the kinds of shoes we wore around 2010-12. I’d wear them then with cropped cutoff denim and a big sweater, and now, honestly same. Marc Fisher, $150
3. I know I was poo-poo’ing neutrals, but I love this weird color. It’s almost neutral, but then a little more saturated. It’s called cappuccino. These come in more ~out there~ colors, but to me these count as a color. I also love the shape of these - they’re like chic-ironic secretary shoes. I love them. M.Gemi, $328
4. Chiiiiiic awkward heel height, awkward color, I LOVE these. ACNE, $620
5. Neon! These remind me so much of original SATC, they’re so nuts and loud, and I think they’re great. Amina Muaddi, $780
6. And then - a dream shoe! Kind of neutral in color, but more yellow. These are a thing and a very, very good thing at that. I also love the puffy gold buckle. Bottega Veneta, $1,500
Tomboy Dresses
Or, everyday summer dresses if you don’t feel girly. These are dresses of convenience - things you throw on after a shower to run out to dinner with wet hair. The best kind of dresses!
1. This is one I’d buy in bulk, basically. It comes in a bunch of colors, but I really like this pale blue (and of course I like the black). Super simple, easy to wear anywhere, and with strappy heels and fun jewelry it becomes fancy. Cos, $59
2. Similar concept here, just with a bit more swing and flare at the hem. I love this slinky knit. Mango, $60
3. Never has there been a more perfect mini dress! The square neckline! The wide straps! It’s so good! J.Crew, $158
4. Ok, I realize this is becoming a little repetitive with the midi-length black dresses, but in my opinion that makes the perfect everyday dress! This one has a pleasingly high neck, but with a cute button detail at the back, and is a gorgeous slinky silk. Asceno, $400
5. Dreamiest dress from Kallmeyer! I’m obsessed with this brand, and man, what a beautiful dress. I also love that the cutouts aren’t too tight, so you don’t have to worry about them digging into you. Heaven. Kallmeyer, $565
6. Here’s something different! Maybe this isn’t a wet-hair dress, but it is a great summer office dress. I love that the cut and tailoring is really precise and sharp, but the fabric is actually kind of gauzy and light. Sacai, $1,430
Perfect Pleated Menswear-ish Khaki
Ahhhh… one of my favorite things of all time. Wear any of these with a good belt, and a cotton knit, and you’ll feel terrific. I wrote about my personal favorite here, which do come from the men’s dept, but they’re not available in tan anymore. Here they are linked to the blue.
1. All hail the pleat-front chino from the brand synonymous with this brand of Americana prep! This one is perfect. J.Crew, $128
2. Another super classic pair! Wide-leg with a bit of a curve to them. These feel a bit dressy to me, which I like! Cos, $135
3. These are very, very much my speed! I love that they’re not quite as wide, and a bit cropped. I’d wear these very casually with sneakers, everywhere. The Frankie Shop, $201
4. And again, this isn’t a category you can discuss without giving credit to The Row. They master this look every season. This pair is in the softest, most beautiful cotton, has the best drape, and you’ll wear them forever. The Row, $1,150
Denim Skirts
Ok, I was supposed to look for mini skirts here, but what I found was a ton of really cool denim skirts. I’ve noticed them for a while but now it seems the market has reached denim skirt saturation point and you know, I’m really into it.
1. Mango has a LOT of great denim skirts, but I narrowed it down to my two favorites. I like this one because it’s sleek, black, has a fun slit, and would look great with a brown belt and a white tank. Mango, $50
2. Truly a dream skirt. This is my favorite, besides the most expensive one on this list… I want this one. Mango, $60
3. APC always does great skirts, and I love that this one is white, and has a bit of a flared shape. Super 70s, very sweet. APC, $164
4. Another cutie pie mini! I like the pocket details and that it’s high waisted. I don’t think it has stretch so it will be nice and sharp (in a good way). Redone, $285
5. I really didn’t want to love a $750 denim miniskirt, but this one is just…perfect. I don’t love a low-waist, super short denim mini - it feels too much like cutoffs to me, not intentional enough. But this one is intentional. Clean, nice flare, high waist, a real winner. Chloe, $750
And then… I was going to do wedding season dressing, bu there’s just SO MANY things to consider. Instead, I’m going to do a dedicated letter just to that. Weddings are the best.
That’s all! I love you!

Laurel
