Of all the things that make me feel the most me-ish, a workwear jumpsuit is at the top of my list. I’ve had one in my wardrobe since, like, 2010, and wear them all the time. Years ago, when I worked at Glamour, I wrote a piece about jumpsuits and overalls for the site. I was before my time, the comments were overwhelmingly horrified, and one person wrote (I will never forget); “How am I supposed to go to the John?” It was one of the funniest negative comments something I wrote ever received. I was secretly thrilled.
I like ones that feel very legit-utility, not utility-ish, so in the past I’ve mostly ordered them through AutomotiveWorkwear.com. The sizing isn’t excellent, but I like that they’re not cinched at the waist. I get them tailored to be a little cropped at the leg, and sometimes nipped in just a little at the waist and chest, but not a lot.
