A very controversial shoe
Hi friends, here we are, right here! I took a break, which is what my other letter will be about, but for now I’m thinking about Birkenstock clogs. This is largely because while I was digging myself into an anxiety hole I became fixated on the Jil Sander x Birkenstock collab, which is 99% sold out. I found the pair I wanted, but because there’s a clog version too I was reminded of how much I love the classic Birkenstock Boston clogs. Love them or hate them, hear me out.
I included them in a letter a few weeks ago and I got a note to do one of these about them specifically because they’re kind of hard to pull off in a way that doesn’t make you feel like you’re on your way to your college dining hall in your sweats on the weekend. They’re the less popular sister of the beloved Birkenstock Arizonas (the two strap style) but I think they’r ready for their time in the sun. They feel chic to me in a very practical way.
