A mostly superficial ode to a piece of furniture I love
The one (and likely only) benefit of my endless scrolling has been (obviously) finding new things I want to buy (and can’t afford). This is the anthem of millennials when defending their egregious screen time. (Also yes I realize each one of these letters so far has dealt with how much time I spend touching my phone, or a desire to touch my phone, I know.)
Recently, I was zoning out in stories when I saw this pop up on Harling Ross’s:

It’s a collaboration between Mash.T design studio (they make lighting and furniture celebrating African craft) and Beauty Ngxongo, a master Zulu basket weaver.
I Dm’d Harling, “Wowowowowowowowow”
And she wrote back, “I knowwwwww”
And thus, this object was cemented as a thing I must have but probably can’t. It is just so beautiful. I love the curves and weaving, but also the super spare vibe of the bench itself. It would be so good in the dream house I’ve been building inside my head. It's been almost a year since we left our apartment in New York. …
