The designer launched “Yves Saint Lauren Rive Gauche” in 1966 as ready-to-wear, in contrast to the existing Yves Saint Laurent Couture. The clothes themselves were slinky, tactile, slim - looking at vintage it’s kind of a stripped back bohemianism, but mega sophisticated, and super-urban - and an artful blend of masculine and feminine.
